It definitely does, Rita! And it will also show up for the people that subscribe to your RSS feed; at least in Google Reader, I see the favicons of the blogs I've subscribed to. It helps me remember who's who -- and it will help your readers, too!

Thank you for your great answer, Linda. I'm going to work on putting a customized icon in my url. I think a customized url icon makes a site more memorable.

Thanks for the question, Michael! This is actually something I've wanted to do for this blog -- and thanks to you, I've done it! Notice the icon in the URL -- it wasn't there yesterday! The answer comes in two parts. 1: Find the image you want to use, and turn it into a favicon. The free site I used was www.favicongenerator.com. Don't forget to save it. 2: Put your favicon.ico in the main folder of your current theme, and in the main directory for your site. There's also a line of code to put into your header.php; rather than put it here, you can go find it at codex.wordpress.org. After I did the ftp and the line insertion, I had a blue rose on my tab. Hope this helps you get an image onto yours!

Thank you so much LJF Wolffe. This was very helpful. I was needing to install some php code and couldn't figure out how to do it. Now here's a real doosy of a question. This one is worth 10 scooby snacks. How does one change the small default paper icon up in the address bar? If you type in www.amazon.com...you will see right before the http: there is a nifty little icon. Keep us posted! And great blog!
