Good starter is O'Connor's & Seymour's "An Introduction to NLP: Psychological Skills for Understanding and Influencing People" http://www.amazon.co.uk/Introducing-Neuro-Linguistic-Programming-Joseph-OConnor/dp/1855383446/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239023754&sr=8-4 IMO the best person so use NLP skills on is oneself. I changed my life by learning NLP (am now a Master Practitioner and also got certified as an NLP Coach).
