. . . yeah, right! Try over 600! No, I’m not kidding.
Take a person who’s spent the majority of their free time in fantasy worlds. Add in a spouse with a similar proclivity, who’s been mobility disabled for the last few years. Add in our favorite type of movie, “previously viewed,” and the fact that we like to be able to smoke or eat our own stuff during a showing, or (heaven forfend) pause it to go to the bathroom without missing anything, and you have a recipe for a large movie collection at home. (I do know people who only like to see a movie once and then never see it again. I just don’t understand them. But then, I don’t understand people that only read a book once, either.)
I had a list of movies on the old Popular Delusions site; I just got it ported over to WordPress. Here’s the link: Our Movies. We’ve got everything from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum to Zorro the Gay Blade; we have a Metaphysical Section (Celestine Prophecy, Bowling for Columbine, Tickling the Body Politic), comedies, parodies, romances, adventures, butt-flap barbarian fantasies, and blow-‘em-up free-for-alls. All of the Amazon links were taken out of it (you would not believe how much the page loading slows — and I only had the links done for A-F!), but I left in the IMDB links, so you can get the basics on any movie before I get around to reviewing it.
I do intend to review all these movies; but even if I do two a day, it’ll take me a year. We have some (to me, at least) undiscovered gems in our collection — and no, I’m not talking about Xanadu! As we watch things, I’ll write them up. Keep an eye on the PD blog!
